Barry Holsey purchased Ready Mix in 1968 from Wayne Maples. He started with 5 gasoline mixers and a timeworn concrete plant that produced only 50 yards an hour and that was if it was operating at top performance. With that overworked machinery, Barry produced quality concrete that helped grow Houston County and East Texas. Soon son Lee Holsey stepped up and began learning the family business. In order for Houston County Ready Mix to keep up with the times, Lee expanded and updated the concrete facility in 2000. With the new plant and computerized mixing capabilities, HCRM could now generate 160 yards of concrete specific to our customer’s needs.
The Holsey Family business has grown with Crockett, it’s a reasonable estimate that Houston County Ready Mix has poured over 1 million yards of concrete in Crockett alone.
